The Central Board of Direct Taxes has recently updated the India tax return filing rules and has also issued amended tax return forms for the tax year 2016-17. These changes essentially increase the reporting burden for taxpayers and we have summarised the key changes in our 2016-17 Tax Return Alert.
Taxpayers should be aware of these to be better prepared for undertaking their 2016-17 India tax return filing. The due date for the India tax return filing is July 31, 2017.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes has issued a Notification laying down rules and a new Form for claim of foreign tax credit in India. These rules will need to be followed by all taxpayers who are claiming a tax credit in India for tax year 2016-17 and onwards and we have summarised these in our Foreign Tax Credit Rules Alert.
While the process for filing the Form 67 has not been notified yet, we hope this will be notified soon.
